How to cancel Xbox Game Pass
US price: Ultimate $29.99 a month since Oct 1, 2025 (press: The Verge). The Xbox page showed no prices when we read it, so we couldn't confirm current prices there.
Intro price vs. renewal price
Xbox page: Essential "first month for $1", Premium "first 14 days for $1", then the regular monthly price (not shown on the page we read).

Steps
- Sign in to your Microsoft account and open Services & subscriptions.
- Find the Game Pass subscription and turn off recurring billing, or choose cancel. Xbox Support's article describes both, under "Canceling a subscription".
Notice period
You can cancel any time. Turning off recurring billing stops future charges and keeps benefits until the expiration date.
Refunds and fees
Xbox Support says you may be eligible to cancel immediately with a refund, but not all charges can be refunded. Prorated refunds by law apply in the countries Xbox lists, not the US (Xbox Support, “Xbox subscription cancellations and refunds”).

Subject: Please cancel my Xbox Game Pass subscription Hello, Please cancel the Xbox Game Pass subscription on the account registered to [ACCOUNT EMAIL] and stop all future charges. I tried to cancel on [DATE] but [DESCRIBE WHAT HAPPENED]. I don't want to pause or switch plans. Please confirm the cancellation and the date my access ends in writing. Thank you, [YOUR NAME]
