How to cancel Netflix

Steps

Sign in on the web and open the Manage your membership page (Account → Membership).
Select Cancel.
Under Cancel, select Finish Cancellation.
Check for the confirmation email sent to the address on the account. Keep it.

Good to know

Signing out or deleting the app does not cancel. Netflix says the cancel page is the only way to end a membership.
No cancel button? You are billed through a partner (for example a phone or TV provider). The Membership section of your Account page links to that partner's cancel steps or tells you whom to contact.
If you cancel mid-period you can keep watching until the billing period ends. Payment History shows the close date.
If your account is on hold, it closes as soon as you cancel.

Offers you may see before you leave

Pause for 1 Month. The cancel page offers a pause instead. You are not charged on your next billing date, and the pause can be extended a month at a time, up to 3 months in total. After the pause, Netflix charges your current plan price again. Not offered on some payment methods.
Cheaper plan. Standard with ads is $8.99/mo, versus $19.99 for Standard. Worth a look if price is your only reason to leave.

Prefilled cancellation email

To: Netflix customer service (or your billing partner). Netflix says the online cancel page is the only way to cancel. Use this message if the page fails or you are billed through a partner, and keep a copy for your records. Replace the [BRACKETED] fields.

Subject: Please cancel my Netflix membership

Hello,

Please cancel the Netflix membership on the account registered to [ACCOUNT EMAIL], effective at the end of the current billing period, and stop all future charges.

I tried to cancel on the Manage your membership page on [DATE] but [DESCRIBE WHAT HAPPENED]. Please do not offer a pause or plan change; I want to end the membership.

Please confirm the cancellation and the date of the final charge in writing.
